Team Italy’s Titans get first win at IFAF World Championship

Tika and Homer looking to qualify for LA28 with Team Italy this week in Düsseldorf.

Titans power duo Tika Marcucci and Jonathan Homer have just secured their first win at the IFAF World Championship in Düsseldorf. Team Italy played Slovenia this morning in the first game in the group stage and came away with a nail-biting 27-26 victory after a last-minute touchdown.

This isn’t Tika’s first time representing Italy on the international stage. After coming back from an achilles injury, she has worked tirelessly to prepare for Worlds together with Homer, her fiancé and Head Coach for the Italian women’s flag team.

In the Manchester Titans Women’s Flag season this past autumn/winter, Tika only played the last 3 tournaments but was a formidable presence on the field. In 2 games in T5 she racked up 4 TDs & 3 XPs.

Italy play Germany next at 3.30pm local time. All schedules and games are on the IFAF tournament website.

On behalf of the Manchester Titans, we are so proud of Jon and Tika and we wish them the best of luck in the rest of the Championship tournament.
