Adult Mixed Flag Gameday 5 Match Report

The Manchester Titans Adult Mixed Flag Teams looked to finish their respective seasons strong on the final gameday of 2021 on Saturday 7th August. The Prem team headed to Chorley for a 10am kickoff against the Oldham Owls & Chorley Buccaneers, whilst the Bee Team had another fixture at Burnage against the Manchester Crows and Wirral Vikings, this one starting at 1pm.
As with the first fixture against the same teams in Oldham, it rained steadily throughout the games but it didn’t stop the Titans Prem team putting up a season high 68 points.
QB Alan Mead threw 8 TD passes, with George Slade adding another. Jay Pitchford returned an interception for his first ever Pick 6, whilst Tom Brook added another 2 Interceptions and James Wilson recorded his 5th pick of the season.
The receiving touchdowns were spread amongst the squad with Rick McEwen getting 2, Pitchford adding another 2, and there were touchdowns for Pedro Berto, Danny Hartridge, Brook, and Reece Donlan, who scored his first ever TD for the Titans.
Extra points from David Briscall (2), Pitchford (2), Berto (2), Brook and Hartridge gave the Titans a 68-13 victory over the Owls.
Next up were the Bucs and the win would ensure an undefeated season for the Titans. Another 8 TD passes from Mead saw him finish with 72 for the season and lead the league (until the last SEC gameday at least). David Briscall was the Titans star performer as he caught a hat-trick of touchdowns, added an XP and even threw an XP to Mead.
Jay Pitchford also caught 3 TDs and an XP and finished on 19 receiving TDs for the season to lead the Titans. Tom Brook and Danny Hartridge added the other scores with James Wilson celebrating his call-up the the GB camp with 2 more interceptions. The Titans romped to a 51-28 win to take the division title for the 4th in a row.

Meanwhile later in the day, the Titans Bee Team took on the Manchester Crows in a rematch of the highest scoring game of the season, a 68-56 win by the Crows. However both defenses looked better prepared in this game and the half-time score of 13-7 to the Crows proved. Will Gleed led the Titans Defense with an interception and a sack, but the Crows started to pull away in the second half was they won comfortably 33-7, Ethan Gregory recording the Titans only points in the game.
The Bees 2nd Game was against the Wirral Vikings, again a rematch and one that the Bees felt they should have won in the first meeting. They didn’t disappoint this time, rolling to a 45-32 victory. QB Jonatan Pan Gago threw 7 TD passes with Ian Harrison, Ethan Gregory and Warwick Heffer each bagging a pair, whilst Marc Balduin got 1.
So the Bees finished a very respectable won 5, lost 6 record in their first season in the league, good enough for 5th place.
