Adult Mixed Flag Gameday 4 Match Report

The Manchester Titans Adult Mixed Flag Teams had their 2nd gameday of July on Saturday 31st, with the Bee Team heading up to Wigan to take on the Bandits and the Chorley Buccaneers, whilst the Prem Team went to Wirral to play the Vikings and the Salford Scorpions.

The Bees started well, recording a 37-26 victory over the Bucs – led by Ethan Gregory and Warwick Heffer who both scored 2 TDs each. George Platt and Ian Harrison also scored a TD each, with Platt logging the only XP by the Titans. QBs Jonatan Pan Gago & Sarah Ul Haq threw 6 TDs between them and Gago added 2 Interceptions on Defense, whilst Daniel Lixandru also recorded a pick – his 4th of the season.

Next up were the Wigan Bandits, and the game was another close high-scoring affair but the more experience Bandits eventually pulled away at the end, winning 41-27. Highlight of the day was rookie defender Simon Haward recording his first interception for the club and running it back for a TD. Gago threw 3 TDs, 2 to Gregory and the other to Heffer, whilst Heffer, Platt and Ben Nuttall added extra points. Defensively Will Gleed led the way with his 3rd sack of the season.

Meanwhile the Prem Team were rolling to a comprehensive 65-6 victory over the Wirral Vikings. QB Alan Mead threw 7 TDs and the defense dominated holding the Vikings to just one score whilst recording 6 interceptions. Tom Brook led the way with 3 picks, with Jay Pitchford, George Slade and James Wilson collecting the others. Wilson ran his back for a TD and added another TD on offense. Pitchford caught 2 TDs, an extra point and a 2PAT, Slade added 2 x 2PATs, while Leigh Kerrigan, David Briscall and Pedro Berto (2) made receiving touchdowns. Titans Head of Flag Richard McEwen added a rushing touchdown as the team rolled to their highest score of the season.

Next up were the Scorpions and Mead continued his good form with another 7 TDs as Manchester maintained their unbeaten season with efficient 48-20 win. Slade extended his league leading interceptions with another 2, taking his total to 20, while Pitchford scored a team high 4 TDs. Briscall (2) and Slade added TD catches, meanwhile defensively Ian Allonby and McEwen each recorded tackles for loss. Pitchford, Slade and Berto added 2 point conversions, and Reece Donlan scored his first points with an extra point reception.

With matches against the Owls and Bucs, the Prem team will look to finish the season unbeaten with the cross-town Crows snapping at their heels, hoping for a slip up. The Bee team look to cement their mid-table success in their first season with games against the Crows and Vikings.
