Adult HC Pete Birds Steps Down

The Titans Adult Contact Head Coach Pete Birds has announced that he will step down from coaching at the end of the season.   Coach Birds, who has also been the HC of the Uni of Manchester, will take a complete break from coaching a the end of the season.

Coach Birds leave as the Titans most successful head coach, over the last 5 years he has a record of 42-11 (with 2 games still remaining in the 2019 season), 38-8 in the regular season.   In this time the Titans have risen from Division 2 all the way through to the Premier Division, making the play-offs in every season Coach Birds has been at the helm.

In his first season the Titans recorded a perfect 10-0 regular season, scoring 555 points and conceding just 50, this streak included a 4 game shut-out run, in fact between games 3 and 8 the Titans conceded just 6 points.

In 2017 the Titans went 13-1 on their way to winning the Div 1 National Championship, beating the London Olympians 46-23 in the bowl game, in 2018 he lead the Titans into their first season in the Premier Division, a 7-3 record secured a play-off birth as the Titans ranked as one of the best 4 teams in the country.

Copyright Gary LongstaffCoach Birds coaching career began as the DC of the then new U17 team in 2014 with Titans GM Jonathan Homer and was there at the inception of our Women’s team, Homer said “Pete has been a Titan for a very long time as a player and a coach and the prospect of entering next year without him at the club seems very strange.  He has overseen an unprecedented period of success and growth, bringing together new coaching staffs and player bases and keeping the philosophy of the team in tact.  We owe him a huge debt for the work he has done and will welcome him back to the team when he decides to return in the future.”
