A week after Manchester Titans U19 team beat Chester 32-0, they travelled down to face the Romans again in what was always going to be a tough match-up for both teams.
The game started with some shocking weather as the heavens opened, however, the Titans defense started off brilliantly by forcing a safety on the Romans opening drive. The Titans offense followed up with a 30-yard Touchdown run by Alex Rothwell #45. With both teams defences putting pressure on the opposing offenses there was no further scoring until the 4th quarter. Half Time score was 8-0 Titans.
Titans LB Uday Surzzaman #52 forced a fumble at the end of 3rd quarter but the offense failed to capitalise. The 4th quarter started with the Romans running the ball in for a Touchdown from inside the red zone. Although the Titans struggled to get back on the scoreboard since the opening drive success, RB Alex Rothwell #45 managed to find a hole in the Romans defence and take it to the house for another big touchdown, after Ryan McGeath had carried the ball from midfield.
The Romans answered back straight away with the first play after kick off going for a TD making the score 14-12 Titans but the Titans held on for the win.
Final score 14-12.
Titans Head Coach Phill Chapman announced game MVP “Hit of the day” was awarded to Former U17 player Josh Knott #56, and Titans “Catch of the day” MVP was awarded to Robert “quack quack” Duck #89 who recorded 3 receptions for 40 yards.
The Titans will host the Chorley Buccaneers at AJ Bell Stadium on 15th May.
