MATCH REPORT: Titans 48-8 West Coast Trojans

The Titans remained unbeaten following a low key 48-8 win over the West Coast Trojans on Sunday.  Seven touchdowns helped the Titans find their seventh victory of the season, leaving them with a two-game lead at the top of the NFC 1 North.

The Titans started out strong, recovering the ball on a surprise onside kick, taking advantage of a gaping hole in the Trojans front line.   The Titans continued to take advantage over the Trojans, with quarterback Sam Bloomfield hitting WR James Newnes for the first of many touchdowns on the day.

Returning to his home country of birth, David McInally celebrated the occasion by deflecting and then intercepting a wayward Trojans pass.   Manchester offense clicked into gear soon after, with Bloomfield hitting George Slade over the middle for a 65-yard score.

With a backfield entirely decimated by injuries, the offense turned to safety and emergency 5th string running back Dave Barnett, who enjoyed great success behind a mauling Titans offensive line, adding the third touchdown of the day from eight yards out.

The Titans managed to find another score before the half, with Newnes coming open with seconds to spare in the half and Bloomfield delicately lofting the ball to give the U19 graduate his second touchdown of the half.

Leading 27-0 at the half, Manchester continued their assault on West Coast straight out of the second half gate, capping off an eight play, 60-yard drive with Bloomfield once again finding Slade for the offenses fifth touchdown.

While the defense continued to hold out the Trojans, the offense added another score to push in the rolling clock. Bloomfield rolled to his right to throw back to a patiently waiting Cory Deere who rumbled home for the Left Tackle’s second touchdown.

To put the final icing on the cake, Newnes managed to secure a hat trick of touchdowns through a 75-yard kick-off return for the final score of the game.

The Titnas’ win puts them just one win away from guaranteeing a playoff spot, and two away from securing the NFC 1 North championship. Currently sitting undefeated at 7-0, the Titans travel to Leeds on Saturday for their final away game of the regular season against the 4-2 Yorkshire Rams.
