Adult Mixed Flag Gameday 2 Match Report

The Manchester Titans Adult Mixed Flag Teams hosted their home tournament at Burnage Rugby Club, where the Prem Team and the Bee Team took on the Warrington Revolution and Warrington Cogs.
Both the Revs and the Titans were undefeated so something was going to have to give, and potentially the divisional title was on the line.

The Titans Prem Team started the day against the Revolution, and immediately set the tone with a quick drive down the field culminating in Jay Pitchford’s TD catch, converted by George Slade for a 7-0 lead. Manchester’s defense held, and again the Titans scored through Slade for a 13-0 lead. The Revs hit back with TD from Aidan Rogers to bring the score to 13-6. Titans QB Alan Mead then hit Pedro Berto for a TD, with Leigh Kerrigan adding the XP and with Warrington looking to cut the deficit before half-time, Slade intercepted Richard Keates and returned it for a TD. Slade added the 2 point conversion as the Titans took at 28-6 half-time lead

Keates would throw for 3 TDs in the second half, including 2 to Danny Meir, as Warrington looked to rally but further TDs from Pitchford and Rick McEwen would see the Titans home with a 40-26 victory. Slade finished the game with 3 interceptions, whilst Kerrigan added another and Ian Allonby recorded a sack.

In the next game, the Bee Team took on the Cogs and came away with a 34-26 victory. Jonatan Pan Gago threw 5 TD pass, 3 to Warwick Heffer, who also added 2 extra points, while Marc Balduin and George Platt also found paydirt. Thomas Lloyd recorded a safety, 1 of 4 sacks in the game, and Defensive Captain Will Gleed added an interception.

The 3rd game of the day saw the Titans Prem Team take on the Cogs and they rolled to a comfortable 30-6 victory, Ian Allonby leading the defense with 2 sacks and a tackle for loss, while James Wilson and George Slade made interceptions. Offensively Slade & Jay Pitchford scored 2 TDs each with Pedro Berto, Leigh Kerrigan and Pitchford all scoring extra points.

The Bees suffered their first loss of the season, falling 46-14 to the Revs. Touchdown passes from Jonatan Pan Gago to Warwick Heffer and Sarah Ul Haq to Ian Harrison, converted by Marc Balduin and Pan Gago were the only points score. Pan Gago recorded an interception and Daniel Lixandru logged a sack defensively for the Titans as they struggled against the Premier League side.

The final game of the day was between the 2 Manchester sides and it was a match up both teams were looking forward to. The Bee Team could not contain Pedro Berto as the speedy receiver scored 4 TDs to lead the Prem team to a 58-12 victory. George Slade threw a TD pass to QB Alan Mead, who threw 6 TDs himself. Danny Hartridge caught a TD and threw a TD, whilst adding an XP. Meanwhile Jay Pitchford and Leigh Kerrigan scored the other TDs for the Titans. Rick McEwen, James Wilson, Pitchford and Slade score 2XPs, and Slade & Tom Brook logged interceptions. For the Bee Team, Sarah Ul Haq threw 2 TD passes to Warwick Heffer and Jonatan Pan Gago.

So the Titans Prem Team remain undefeated at the top of the NEC West, with the Bee Team in 4th place.
