2017: U19 Season Preview

After losing to East Kilbride Pirates the semi-finals last season, Titans U19s are looking forward to 2017 season.

During the offseason, the whole club moving venue from AJ Bell Stadium to Belle Vue to train on new 4G pitch which is fitted with shock pads and have access to 6,000 capacity National Speedway Stadium for Game Day.

This Season myself and Coach Chapman gain the first full cycle of players from U17s Team.  First year players Josh Knott, Lewis Parker, Rebs Quinn, Charlie Gloves, Harrison Fleary, Jordan Howard, Phil Dee and Sulaiman Sarwar have all now been with the Titans for 4 seasons having started with the U17 team in 2014, they represent the first of many groups of players who will pass upwards through the age groups within the club.

Returning to the team from 2016 having played BUCS are key players RB Tyler Browne (UCLAN Rams) and Tight End Robert Duck (MMU Eagles).  Another RB Anele Hlongwane is fully fit again and ready to go and DB Chase Johnston heads back to Manchester after playing for Filton Pride.  At LB Josh Williams is another to watch as part of a hard hitting defence.

In international news, U19’s player Uday Suruzzaman who has been selected for the Spanish U19 National Team. Uday came to Manchester from Barcelona and is entering his 3rd season with the Titans.

As we look ahead to the coming year we are excited to take our knowledge, experience and skills forward to be a part of the BAFANL Under 19s Division 1 Northern Conference with sights firmly set on silverware. Due to the leagues play-off structure, the under 19’s will have a tall order of a perfect season to ensure a spot at the finals weekend in August.

Head Coach Phil Chapman welcomes into his coaching staff former Adult Contact & current UOM Tyrants Offensive Coordinator Thomas Leonard club to lead the U19 offense, Coach Leonard has started his football career as part of the Titans Youth programme in 2008. Coach Leonard brings to the team his wealth of knowledge and a record of high scoring offenses.
