2017: Stepping up from U19

We asked some of our players for content to put on the website, here are the thoughts of James Allen who has stepped up to our Adult Contact team having been a member of the successful U19 team in 2016.

What can I say about the Manchester Titans that hasn’t been said already?  Voted as ‘Programme of the Year’ last year – which incidentally was my first year at the club, and what a special one it was – we finished the season as conference champions! I started the season not knowing about football at all but by the time it finished I felt I had made real progress. I spent part of the season as a back up until I was called upon to play in the place of the injured Alex Rothwell, who all season had been amazing for us in the run game. I ended the season getting put on my backside in the national semi-final against EKP which funnily enough set me up for this year to play Adult Contact.

Admittedly, I haven’t played much, but the whole team have tried their best to accommodate me since injuring myself in a crash earlier this year. Every week I still have the undying urge to come down and help out and once I’m there the undying urge to put on some kit on and play Football! Although I’m still adjusting to the move;, the difference in play books from Junior to Senior is huge! Our amazing offensive co-ordinator, Luke Carlton, has done a great job at creating an offence ready for anything with great athletes all over the offence like Joe Nicholson #33 who never ceases to amaze in training. I love watching the offence and just learning, most of these guys have years of experience on me so I have a lot to learn and I will be humble in doing so. Being the youngest on the team is a challenge but one I accept wholeheartedly because I love this club and everyone involved.

You can see James and the rest of our Adult Contact team in action on Sunday May 7th as we take on the West Coast Trojans in our first home game of the season.  Tickets are just £5 and available now.  CLICK TO BUY
